Every two years, the Beijing Auto Show sets the tone for the global automotive industry. This April, OMODA JAECOO showed up – and showed out.
The 2026 show coincided with the brand’s third anniversary and a landmark milestone – over 1 million vehicles sold globally in just three years. The fastest any brand has ever reached that number. This is not a brand finding its feet. This is a brand hitting its stride.
The Stars of the Show
Two models took centre stage. The OMODA 7 drew the biggest crowds with its avant-garde styling – a design that had already turned heads at London and Madrid Fashion Weeks, fusing fashion aesthetics with serious automotive engineering. Alongside it, the OMODA 4 made its grand debut with a striking “cyber mecha” design and an AI Cabin intelligent cockpit built for the next generation of drivers.
What’s Coming to SA
The OMODA C4 is confirmed for South Africa in 2026, the JAECOO J8 is in the pipeline as the brand’s new flagship, and the JAECOO J5 SHS HEV brings hybrid power to the off-road range. The best is still to come – and we will be right here when it arrives.
The Future is Hybrid – Understanding NEV
You have probably been seeing NEV (New Energy Vehicle) – pop up more and more. Here is the simple breakdown:
ICE – Internal Combustion Engine: Your traditional petrol engine. Familiar, no frills.
